My Coffee and Yoga Story
I didn’t start drinking coffee until many years after becoming a yoga teacher. I loved a good chai latte, but coffee wasn’t my thing. But… Coffee Shops. OMG. I could never get enough of them. I still can’t.
In fact, when I’m not on my yoga mat, somewhere on trails hiking or trail running, there’s a good chance (a really, really good chance) that you’ll find me at a coffee shop somewhere on the planet. I once joked that I think that I’ve been to nearly every Starbucks in New York City. Ah, not quite, but it’s fair to say that coffee houses are a second home.
After spending so much time in coffee shops, usually blogging, writing, or working on yoga classes and programs, and later moving to France, I started drinking coffee.
I can honestly say, I don’t have a daily coffee habit, though it might seem that way. There are times I skip coffee completely or go days (sometimes even weeks) without it. However, when I do drink it, I love it.
It cheers me up.
It makes me feel happy holding a pretty, warm cup with fancy latte art on top in my hands. It makes me even happier sharing beautiful coffee moments with my favorite people and friends.
Given all of the choices in life for *bad habits* or passions, I think coffee is a decent choice. And coffee and yoga, even better.
Why Coffee and Yoga?
While some may think daily coffee and yoga practice are incompatible with a healthy lifestyle, I happen to think that there are many benefits to good coffee, a consistent yoga practice, and vulnerable conversation around topics in self-love, pursuit of passions, and relationships.
I definitely think coffee and yoga can coexist. Of course, moderation, as with everything in life, is probably a good idea, especially to avoid caffeine dependency. And, it’s also important that you are balancing your life and staying hydrated with other beverages, like water.
